Monica Engel

National Geographic Explorer

Monica has a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Geography with an emphasis in Human Dimensions of Wildlife and Natural Resources Management and Conservation from Memorial University, and a B.Sc. in Biology from Unisinos University in Brazil. She has more than a decade of experience in conducting fieldwork, interviewing people, and working with communities, organizations and governments on various issues related to human dimensions of land, sea and wildlife in South and North America, and Europe.

Spencer Thompson

Spencer has been a professional Cameraman in IATSE 667/671 for eight years. Graduated from Upper Canada College 2009, Honours Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University in 2013 and Toronto Film School President’s List in 2015.

Credits include: Amazon’s “The Boys”, Hulu’s “Handmaid’s Tale”, CBS’s “In the Dark” and many more from Toronto. His work in Newfoundland includes: CBC’s “Son of a Critch” and CityTV’s “Hudson and Rex”.

Cinematographer and Cameraman

Brandan Reid

Brandan has been a professional Photographer, Videographer and Cameraman for Studio Film and Television productions (IATSE 671) for the last four years. He has taken photos for Parks Canada, including Gros Morne National Park and Terra Nova National Park. 

Film and Television credits include: MGM’s “Beacon 23”, SyFy’s “Astrid and Lily”, CityTV’s “Hudson and Rex” and CBC’s “Son of a Critch”.
